In Spotilla’s Android and iOS apps, you can search for a customer by name, read their details and contacts, and access Spots through folders linked to the customer.
Requirements and information visibility
Sign in to Spotilla and make sure you have an internet connection: the customer list, search results and customer details are retrieved from the service. You need permission to view customers. Contacts and folders have separate access permissions that determine their visibility. Being able to see a customer therefore does not guarantee that you can see all their contacts or folders.
The customer list is not limited to active customers. Appearing in the list does not confirm that a customer is active. Checking and changing a customer’s status is described in the guide to maintaining customer details.
Open a customer or search by name
- Open Customers from the app’s side menu. Customers are sorted by name. Tap a customer’s row to open them.
- To search for a customer, tap the magnifying glass icon at the top right of the customer list.
- Enter the customer’s name or part of it in the Search with Customer Name field. You cannot run an empty search. The search matches the customer’s name and is case-insensitive. For example, malli finds the name Malliyritys. This search does not use the company ID, address or a contact’s name.
- On Android, tap the search form’s Save button. This runs the search without changing any information in the customer register. On iOS, tap the form’s SEARCH button.
- Tap the correct customer in the search results. Check the customer’s name and the legal name and company ID in the Customer Details section to avoid confusing customers with the same name.
Search results include only the first batch of results, usually up to 50 customers. The search view does not load more matches as you scroll. Refine the name if there are many results. The regular customer list loads more customers as you scroll.
You can refresh the regular customer list by pulling it down. Go back from the search view when you want to browse customers without a search filter. If a new search on iOS leaves the previous results visible, leave the search view, reopen it and repeat the search; old rows that remain visible do not confirm that the new search succeeded.
Read customer details and contacts
The customer page has the sections Customer Details, Customer Contacts and Additional information. On Android, expand or collapse a section using the arrow next to its heading. On iOS, you can tap the section heading or its arrow. An empty section may have no arrow.
Customer Details shows the legal name, company ID, address and a number row. A dash appears in place of missing information. The address shown differs between platforms: Android shows the customer’s billing address here, while iOS shows their regular address. Different addresses therefore do not necessarily mean that the information is out of date.
On Android, the Phone number: row shows the customer’s customer number, and tapping the row passes that same customer number to the phone’s dialer. Do not use this row to call the customer. On iOS, the customer’s phone row shows the saved phone number; tapping it opens the calling function if the device supports it.
Customer Contacts shows the first name, last name, email address and phone number of people linked to the customer who are visible to you. Contacts are sorted by last name. You can tap a contact’s phone number: Android opens the dialer, while iOS opens the calling function if the device supports it. Check the number before calling.
Additional information shows the additional information fields saved for the customer and their values. Android hides the entire section if the customer has no additional information fields. Setting up these fields is explained in the guide to customer groups and additional information.
Open a customer’s asset
Tap the Browse customers assets card on the customer page. It opens the folders linked to the customer that you have permission to see. Select a folder, continue into subfolders if necessary, and open the Spot you want by tapping its row. The card opens folder browsing, rather than a direct list of all the customer’s Spots.
Check the name and folder of the Spot you opened to make sure you are viewing the correct asset. Opening a customer or folder does not change customer details or link the customer to a new folder.
If information or assets are missing
First check the search text, your internet connection and that you have selected the correct customer. Refresh the customer list and reopen the customer’s details. If a contact is missing, they may not be linked to the customer, or you may not have permission to view them. Customer contacts and a Spot’s own contact details are separate links.
If no folders appear, the customer may have no linked folders, or you may not have permission to access them. Having no access permissions for any of the linked folders can also cause a loading error. An empty view or an error alone does not prove that the customer has no assets. If necessary, ask an administrator to check the links and access permissions.
Customer details are changed in the customer register in the browser. Maintaining contacts and folder links is described in the guide Customer contacts and folders.
