Deleting an entire maintenance plan removes its planning data and comments. The devices included in the plan, called Spots, remain. Delete the plan in the browser; the Android and iOS apps do not have a maintenance plan deletion function.
Requirements for deletion
A local admin user can delete a plan. A Manager user must have both permission to view and permission to delete the plan through their roles, as well as permission to view every Spot in the plan. Seeing a plan in the list therefore does not by itself mean you can delete it. Access to just one of its Spots may be enough to view it.
The trash can icon used for deletion appears only when you have permission to delete that plan. If the icon is missing, ask an admin user to check your role permissions and your access to all Spots in the plan.
Check and save the information you need
In the browser menu, open Assets and content → Assets, devices, tools → Long-term maintenance plans. Open the plan by clicking its name. Check the name, Spots and planning rows before deleting it.
If you want to save the yearly table, select Export view to Excel above the table on the plan form's Plan tab. Check the contents of the downloaded Excel file before deleting the plan. The export uses the form's current rows and totals, so it may include unsaved changes. If you need the saved version, reopen the plan before exporting.
The Excel export is neither a backup of the entire plan nor a restore function. It does not include comments or change history. If necessary, check the form's Comments and History tabs and save any explanations you need separately before deleting the plan.
Delete the plan
- Return to the plan list and find the plan you checked.
- Click the trash can icon at the right end of that specific plan's row. The icon on the list row deletes the entire plan.
- The confirmation dialog displays Are you sure you want to delete the selected rows? Select Yes to delete the plan or No to cancel.
- Check for the Deleted successfully notification and confirm that the plan's row disappears from the list. Refresh the page and make sure the plan no longer appears in the list.
Confirming with Yes deletes the plan immediately. Deletion does not wait for the plan form to be saved. The interface has no function to undo deletion or restore a plan. If you receive an error message, refresh the list and check the situation before trying again.
What changes when you delete a plan?
The plan's basic information, Spot links, element lines, their yearly planned amounts and the plan's comments are deleted. You can no longer open the plan or its own comparison of forecast and actual costs. Its form's history can no longer be opened either; this does not mean that all history data recorded in the system is deleted.
Spots, separate tasks and service requests, their cost entries and the Spots' device costs remain. The plan's actual costs are read from these separate cost records, so deleting the plan does not delete the source data for actual costs or cancel tasks or service requests. Deletion also does not change the Spots' status or take them out of use.
If you only want to remove a particular Spot or element line from the plan, edit the plan's contents instead of deleting the entire plan. See editing a plan and its history.
