A Spot's status indicates whether the device is in use. Change its status when taking it out of use while retaining its information and history.
Choose the appropriate status
| Status | When is it used? |
|---|---|
| Active | The device is in use. |
| Inactive | The device is not currently in active production use. |
| Faulty | The device is out of use due to a fault. |
| Disabled | The device has been taken out of use and its information should be retained. |
- Open Assets, devices, tools in the browser and click the Spot's name.
- Select the desired Status.
- Select Save and handle any additional confirmation.
When selecting Disabled, the application asks about deleting the Spot's tasks. Read the question before answering: task deletion is a separate choice. Completed tasks are not deleted by this option.
A disabled Spot does not automatically appear in every view. Include Spots in the deleted state when searching if necessary. Lists may use the shorter label Deleted.
If the service links Spot and task statuses, Inactive or Faulty may put open tasks on hold. Returning the Spot to Active may reactivate waiting tasks. The effect depends on the service setting.
Permanent deletion
The delete action on the Spot form permanently deletes the Spot. The application asks for separate confirmations.
Permanent deletion also loses the Spot's files, tasks and cost information. They are no longer available for reporting. Use it only when neither the Spot nor its information needs to be retained.
Deletion or disabling may be blocked by contract or billing links, for example. Investigate the reported link with your administrator before continuing. A status change does not make the folder containing the Spot empty.
