A device card brings together the fields needed for similar devices, or Spots. For example, a ventilation unit's device card could include manufacturer, model and serial number. Values are entered separately for each Spot later.

First make sure that the required attributes have been created. Creating and changing device cards requires administrative permissions.

Create a device card

  1. Open Device cards in the browser and select Create new device card.
  2. Enter a Name and Description. Use a unique name that explains the device card's purpose.
  3. Open Device card fields and select Add new device card field.
  4. Search for and select the required attribute.
  5. Add other fields in the same way. A device card must have at least one field.
  6. Drag the fields by their handles to arrange them in the desired order.
  7. Save the device card.

The selected attribute determines the field type. If you cannot find the right attribute, create it in Attributes before completing the device card.

Edit an existing device card

Open the device card from the Device cards list. You can add fields, reorder them or remove an unnecessary field using its delete icon. Save when finished.

A saved field's attribute selection is locked. Using a different attribute changes the field structure: add the required field, then assess separately whether the old one can be removed.

Changes to a device card in use also affect the folders and Spots using it. Removing a field may delete its values. Check where it is used and save any information you need before removing it.

Creating a device card alone does not apply it to all devices. Link it to the appropriate folders by following the separate instructions.
