A tag attached to a device lets you find the correct Spot without searching by name. Read QR codes with the phone's camera and NFC tags by holding the phone near the tag.
Sign in to Spotilla and open Home. The tag must be linked to a Spot you may view. These instructions cover Android and iOS.
Read a QR code
- Select QR reading on Home: Read QR-Code on Android or READ QR-CODE on iOS.
- Allow camera access if prompted.
- Point the camera at the device tag's QR code and keep the whole code visible until recognised.
- Check the opened Spot's name and details before continuing to a task, for example.
Read an NFC tag on Android
- Make sure the phone supports NFC and it is enabled in phone settings.
- Return to Spotilla's Home. If you opened other views from it, go back first.
- Hold the phone's NFC reading area near the device tag for a moment.
- When the Spot opens, confirm the correct device.
Android NFC reading works on Home. READ NFC displays instructions to hold the phone near the tag.
Read an NFC tag on iOS
- Select READ NFC on Home.
- When prompted, hold the iPhone near the NFC tag and keep it still while reading.
- Check the opened Spot's name and details.
NFC requires a compatible phone. If the tag also has a QR code, you can use it instead.
Why does tag reading fail?
The QR reader has no camera image. Check camera permission, ensure the entire code is visible and provide adequate lighting.
Android does not react to the NFC tag. Check NFC settings and return to Home. Move the phone slowly over the tag to find its reading area. Wait briefly before rereading a tag immediately after a previous read.
The tag does not open a Spot or shows the wrong information. It may be unlinked or linked to a folder, for example. Ask your administrator to check the link and your permissions. You can also search for the correct Spot by name.
