Deleting an individual file removes the attachment from the Spot. Deleting a file folder removes only the grouping: its files remain on the Spot without a folder.

These instructions cover deletion from the Spot's own details in the browser. You need permission to edit the Spot.

Delete an individual file

  1. Open Assets, devices, tools, select Default table and open the Spot.
  2. Go to Files. If the file is in a folder, open File Folders and select it.
  3. Check the filename and contents to identify the correct file.
  4. Click its bin icon to mark it for deletion.
  5. Check all deletion marks and select Save at the bottom of the Spot form.
  6. Reopen the Spot if needed and confirm the file is gone.

If you marked the wrong file, click its bin icon again before saving. The second click removes the deletion mark.

Save confirms file deletion. Check every marked file before selecting it. If you only want to organise a file into another folder, move it instead.

Delete a file folder but keep its files

  1. Open the Spot's File Folders and select the folder.
  2. Select Remove Folder.
  3. Check the folder name in the confirmation and select Yes to delete it. No cancels.
  4. Check that its tab disappears and its files appear among the Spot's files without folders.

Folder deletion is saved immediately after confirmation. It does not wait for Save on the Spot form.

Why does deletion not work?

The file is still visible. Clicking the bin only marks it for deletion. Check that you successfully saved the Spot's changes.

You receive a permission error or Save is missing. Ask your administrator to check your Spot editing permissions. These instructions do not cover deletion in the separate Document management view.

Files remain visible after deleting the folder. This is intended: deleting a folder does not delete its files. Delete individual files separately using the instructions above.
