How do I create a product and enter its basic details?

The product register contains items such as spare parts used on devices, or Spots, and maintenance work. Creating products requires permission.

1. Open the register and select Create new product.
2. Enter a Name and unique Code.
3. Select Product category and Storage unit.
4. Add an Additional name, EAN code and manufacturer details as needed.
5. Enter the applicable pricing and product information.
6. Check Product in use and save.

Choose the storage unit according to how the product is handled. A part counted in pieces and a material consumed by measurement need different units.

The code identifies the product. If already used, check the existing product before creating one. Additional names and EAN codes help searches.

Default VAT % is used when adding a new product row to contract billing rows. Check prices and other terms used on a job or contract separately.

Creating a product does not add stock. Check balances separately and record warehouse receipt when goods actually arrive.

Disabling a product may be blocked by existing usage links. Investigate its use before proceeding.
